A massive day, with many prices doubling vendors expectations. I now know why cattle and calf buyers do not come to Norwich from the Midlands (thats where I am from) and further North - they cannot afford them !!   A large entry of breeding stock in the inauguaral Show and Sale of Cows and Calves, competing for the Paul Davis Memorial Trophy, met a trade which can only be described as impossible for many to partake in.
The Championship went to Matt Barker of Diss, with a Blonde Cow with a young B.Blue x Bull Calf at foot, selling for £2400 to Davis Dairies.  Matt also sold a Blonde x Cow with small twins at £2800 and a Blonde Cow with a Blonde Bull Calf at £2700.. Top price of the day went to Helen Collins with a Limousin x Cow and Limousin x Heifer Calf at foot at £2900..  Thanks are due to the judges Mr Jason Child and Mr Justin Rust-Andrews for giving up their time and carrying out their task in a most professional manner.  Mr. Gary Sharpe of Fristling Hall Farms for this generous sponsorship of the prize money and for all the vendors for a show of cattle of great quality and to the buyers for holding their nerve.

Top price of the day went to Davis Dairies with a Limousin Bull Calf, auctioned to raise money for the National Amylodosis Centre, in the Royall Free Hospital, London, in memory of Paul Davis. The calf sold to Roger Long for £480.  Blue calves sold to £455 for CW Potter & Son, with others from the same vendor at £410, £400, £400, £400.  Alex Dann sold Blues to £410, Angus to £368 and Black & Whites to £160. Limousins are always in demand, with R. Paterson reaching £402, £395, £380, £365 and £360. A.Angus from FW Parsons sold to £370 and £350 with Herefords from LG Brigham to £310 and Tom Crawford £305.
