Market Report

Notes
244 Store & Breeding Cattle.
Another fair entry of better quality this week sold to a trade that can only be described as "out of this world"
For those selling cattle privately - OH DEAR -
All categories from small ones to big ones were fiercely bid for and in most cases probably well exceeded vendors expectations, with the stronger end of the scale finding many bidders and leaving several potential buyers without any - not one purchase. Supply and demand rules every market place and at the moment the latter is winning, helped by strong retail demand for beef and the current lift in clean cattle prices. However, not to put a damper on things, but the current weather and grass shortage, severe in some parts of the country, could potentailly have some effect in the future?
Top price went to Lambert & Co, with a 20mo Simmental x Heifer at £1170, followed by R. Nunn with A.Angus steers 19mo at £1030 and Guyer Farms with A. Angus x Steers 13mo to £1025.
