277 Store and Breeding Cattle & Calves

STORE CATTLE

The man from Essex must be commended for the presentation of his very large show of Quality, Suckler Bred Store Cattle. We have said this before but it needs repeating. So chapeau to him. With Cattle that could be fed or grazed, the interest shown from prospective purchasers was immense, with enquiries to this Auctioneer from all over England into Wales.
As I always speak the truth and if asked tell people from away - do not underestimate the locals, they are Warrior bred in East Anglia, seeing off the Vikings and the Romans at various times throughout history.
It is understood that we were helped a little bit by the Beef quotations for next week and the prospect of better weather, although future grass was a worry for some. We also had the beast from the east and the kind of the north in the midst of the battle.
All this resulted in the man from Essex topping both the Steer and Heifer sections of the store cattle at £1950 for both and an overall average north of £1700.
However, it has to be said that which market could you go to at the moment and have the chance to buy 200 Qualit Suckler Bred cattle from one farm ??
All roads lead to the East !!   And we have another consignment next Sale from the same vendor of 100 Top Quality Steers & Heifers
