An excellent entry of some real quality cattle drew more buyers and resulted in an excellent trade throughout.  Quality always sells and today was no different.

Plenty of customers despite the current depressed beef market. Hereford Steers from Longwood Organic Farmers sold to £161ppkg (£1062) and Angus Cows from J.C. Savory reached £939 (£116ppkg)

 

Breeding Cattle

(68) Calves

As stated earlier, quality always sells. Raven Bros sold an 18 day old Limousin Bull Calf to £480. Charolais Bull calves from Mark Daniels reached £335 and B.Blues from CW Potter & Son to £320 for a heifer. Other B.Blues from Alex Dann made £310. Topping the A.Angus section at £265 was Alex Dann. Good Hereford Bulls from C.Gapp also reached £265

Spring Lambs  (183) Very keen trade for 40kg plus lambs and many more could have been sold. A few lambs at 37kg just wanting a bit more flesh. Overall average 198.91ppkg

Smaller entry than previous weeks with festivals now finished. Overall average £64.07
from £6 to £85

Cull Rams (9) A few strong Rams about, Overall average £76.22 from £57 to £91

Breeding sheep & Store Lambs (110) Store Lambs a keen trade for a pen of store lambs (28) Ewes & Lambs £65 to £165 Average £103.21 (1) Goat. Very keen bidding over this Nubian Nanny to £110
