STORE CATTLE

The dearest yet is the simplest way to describe the store cattle trade on show day.
A very big thank you to the Judge, Mr. Hamish Carrie for carrying out this task and to our very generous sponsors for the day Mills on Wheels.

The Overall Champion for cattle born in 2024 was 
Cook & Colman with a tremendous Black Limousin x Steer which sold to the Judge for £1650.  Reserve Champion went to a smart Limousin Heifer from A. Hodge which also sold to the Judge for £1650.

The East Anglian Simmental Society also very kindly sponsored a Show for Simmental Sired Cattle which was won by a Pedigree Simmental Bulling Heifer from Marcus Searle which sold for £1,560.

BREEDING CATTLE

Another firm enquiry, with a Piemontese Bull from Brian Jonesx at £2,000 and a young British Blue Bull from Amy Kinge to £1630. Cows and Calves from S. Steggles reached £1600 and £1500 from RW & DR Coe

CALVES (56)

Christmas Show day and a fantastic thank you to all vendors, buyers and most of all on the day to the Judge, Mr. Roger Long, who carried out the job very professionaly.

The Show was restriced to calves born on or after 12th October and the Champion went to Alex Dann with a B.Blue Bull calf which went on to sell to the judge for £502.  Alex also took the Reserve Champion and 1st prize in the Native classes with an Angus Bull calf which made £305, again purchased by the Judge.
The calf trade in general was fantastic, with support from extra buyers pushing prices to £485, £440 (twice) for Charolais from R Paterson and £470 for Blues from CW Potter.

A busy market day in Norwich, with the Fatstock Show & Sale bringing in the crowds. A special thank you to Norwich High Sherriff for attending.

A good show of lambs both commercial and show sheep which was met with resistance and sold well. Topping at 521.70ppkg (£240) for Alburgh Lamb
