The main take away from todays market was quality. There was a lot of quality about, which surprised most people. This was coupled with a trade that was way in front of recent events, and most vendors had very large smiles on their faces.

A nice 12mo Hereford x Bull from JR Brown sold to £1205 and an in calf Simmental Cow from JJ Lawrence & Son sold to £1000

A small harvest entry today met a very strong trade. Blues from CW Potter achieved a mighty £502 for a bull, with heifers at £415 and £400.  Alex Dann had a Charolais at £398, whilst CB & SC Gapp sold a Hereford at £350

A good hot day with the threat of rain later meant fewer sheep to market, but those who made the journey were rewarded.

Prices easer for lighter lambs, but 43kg + lambs are wanted and were sold over 300ppkg. Top prices today went to Bethany Atkinson and Chalke Farms at £160 per head.
