STORE CATTLE

A fantastic spring type of entry and the dearest trade yet - probably ever - with many new buyers and pleased vendors. Most people cannot believe the beef trade, but have to realise that it is being transferred to the store cattle market, the question is, what will happen going forward ?

Cull Cattle (24)

Overall average 185.5ppkg
Yet another level has been reached with the cull cow market, with a top price of 227ppkg for Rounding Bros or £1968 for MD Barrett.
41.6% of the entry made over 200ppkg which has never happened here before.

BREEDING CATTLE

(48) Calves

What a difference a week makes (or 2 weeks in our case). Last time we struggled for buyers (numbers of them that is) and this time we were inundated. Top spot went to CW Potter with Blue bulls at £420 twice, also £390 and £385. Alex Dann sold smaller Blues to £315, £310, £310, £302 with Tom Crawford close behind at £295.  Angus from Pearn Wyatt reached £240, whilst Hereford heifers from LG Brigham achieved £225 and £230 for Bulls

A very good show of sheep, with Farmers looking to sell at whatever as lack of food and needing funds

With trade dropping day by day all week in other markets, todays trade was not as bad as first feared and topping at 243.30ppkg for Tanya Knights and £120 for Robert Lakey
