An increased entry, plus record levels of straw and food produced, plus an end to the harvest drew a lot more buyers and the record prices continue, showing the huge demand for British Beef experienced for the last year and a half. My friend Sherlock thinks buyers should bring calculators, however it should be noted that if you put garbage into a calculator, garbage comes out !!

Record price for Norwich Market - Limousin Bull £6,700 for D & S Wharton.

One of the best Limousin Bulls seen locally was entered by Messers D & S Wharton, Norfolk, saw a monumental bidding battle take place, which finally ended at £6,700 as he left the sales ring. Congratulations to all involved.

A small show this week, but do not forget next weeks Special Breeding Sale and the ovious highlight of Messers Whartons record breaking Limousin Bull at £6,700.

A better entry, as with the store cattle, drew more buyers and some fantastic prices ensued.Top price went to a Charolais (we have not heard that for a while) at £475 for R. Paterson - the same vendor achieving £455, £425, £405, £405 - all for Charolais. B.Blues sold to £460 for CW Potter and £430 for Alex Dann. A. Angus reached £320 for David Parsons and Black and Whites to £275 for Alex Dann for a reared calf.

Today was our Second Breeding Sale of the Season with 100% clearance of all sheep. Thanks to all entrants, buyers and staff for a successful day. Notable many more faces in the market today
