At last the weather is getting warmer and with potentially record breaking crops and grass yield, East Anglia is looking extremely well and healthy. We are only part timers with a back street market, but we do not do too badly in terms of numbers and prices as shown below, when compared with the great and the good.

Another small entry of Cows met the usual very fas trade - overall average 162ppkg - yes that is correct !  A clean heifer from SG Lutkin & Son topped the market at 205ppkg with big fleshed cows frequently 160ppkg to 180ppkg. Top price in the lump went to Mrs Jane Cargill with Angus Cows to £1600, £1575, £1532, £1512

A smaller entry this week, with Lincoln Red Cows and Calves from Shaw & Goate to £1390 and £1350. Belted Galloway Cow and Calf from CA Coe & Son to £1290. Hereford Cow & twin calves from J Delph to £1225. Simmental Stock bull from R.Giles £1280

A small harvest entry of specially selected Dairy calves produced an outstanding trade that bucked the national trend. To those of you who are selling privately - good luck with that.
Top price this week went to Alex Dann with B.Blue bulls to £470, £445 and heifers to £420, £400 and black and whites to £160.
R. Paterson had quality Limousins to £420, £410 and black and whites to £155.
CW Potter sold B.Blues to £390, £390 with RJ Barns at £335. Herefords from LG Brigham reached £200.

Numbers down this week with many farmers making hay while the sun shines,but those who were able to attend were rewarded by fantastic prices as the sheep were in demand with a full list of buyers present.
