Notes

324 Head of Cattle & Calves

240 Store & Breeding Cattle.

240 Store & Breeding Cattle
An excellent entry and more buyers around the ring produced a very good trade all through. A touch more action in the beef trade helped the stronger end and quality younger cattle found many more bidders than of late. Tony Mallon secured top price with Limousin Heifers 22mo at £1095 and £990. His excellent run of younger Lincoln Red x and Limousin x cattle were also a feature of the sale with buyers trying to secure quality cattle for the future.

(10) Cull Cattle

Cows are worth less, but these sold well. Five Berries Ltd had top price at 120ppkg or £900. Medium quality cows were 70p to 100ppkg

Breeding Cattle

A wide choice for eveyone resulted in a total clearance and good prices, especially when considering the cull cow trade which has now decreased significantly.  A nice pedigree Limousin Bull, 27mo, from Anita Padfield found a new home at £2,100. Calving cows from Stephen Lutkin sold to £860 and a Lim x Heifer & Bull Calf made £1175 from Mr. Everitt. Older Cows, due in March from Mr. Shelrake reached £835

(74) Calves & Stirks

Another top trade when compared to many centres, although we didnt have the quality overall today.
BB heifer calves from Potters reached £290 and £275 with BB bull calves from Alex Dann to £225. Angus bull calves reached £222 and £220 for David Parsons with heifer calves to £200

SHEEP (560)

Auctioneer Tim Webster ALAA.
A full compliment of buyers drove up the price despite a few number less with many of the farmers watching the Rugby world cup.
